Whose breakthrough movie has a higher Rotten Tomatoes rating, Garfield's Boy A or Pugh's Lady Macbeth?
US audiences probably first remember seeing Andrew Garfield in The Social Network, but the young actor's breakthrough role came a few years earlier in 2007's Boy A, where he worked with his We Live in Time director John Crowley and played a young teen recently released from a prison sentence for a violent crime he committed as a child. Similarly, Florence Pugh hit the mainstream with her 2019 trifecta of Fighting with My Family, Midsommar and Little Women, but she first earned raves for the UK period drama Lady Macbeth. Both Boy A and Lady Macbeth are "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes, but Pugh's Lady Macbeth (89%) just edges Boy A's score (88%).
Who has the highest rated movie on IMDb's Top 250 list: Garfield's Spider-Man: No Way Home of Pugh's Dune: Part Two?
Two of the biggest blockbusters in recent memory, movie fans loved both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Dune: Part Two. But when it comes to rating the movies on IMDb, the trio of Spider-Mans (Garfield, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland) were not able to best the sandworms of Arrakis, as Dune: Part Two has a score of 8.5/10 on IMDb, which ranks it at No. 47 in IMDb's top 250; Spider-Man: No Way Home scored 8.2 and is ranked No. 176.
Whose Netflix original movie has a higher Rotten Tomatoes score: Garfield's tick, tick... BOOM! or Pugh's The Wonder?
Both Garfield and Pugh have had critically-acclaimed movies produced by Netflix in recent years. For Garfield it was the musical tick, tick... BOOM! directed by Lin Manuel Miranda, and for Pugh it was her period drama The Wonder. The movie that scored highest on Rotten Tomatoes was tick, tick... BOOM!, with its 87% besting The Wonder's 85%. Outside of Rotten Tomatoes, tick, tick... BOOM! had more success with the Oscars, earning two nominations (including a Best Actor nod for Garfield), and, for what's it worth, is on WTW's list of best Netflix movies.
Who was the first to earn an Oscar nomination: Garfield or Pugh?
As mentioned above, Garfield was nominated for his performance in tick, tick...BOOM! in 2021, but that was actually his second nomination. His first came again for Best Actor, this time in Hacksaw Ridge, which was released in 2016, before Pugh's lone Oscar nomination to date for 2019's Little Women.
Which TV series has a higher Rotten Tomatoes score: Garfield's Under the Banner of Heaven or Pugh's The Little Drummer Girl?
Like many major Hollywood stars in recent years, Garfield and Pugh have also lent their talents to some high profile TV projects. Pugh's role in The Little Drummer Girl, an adaptation of a John Le Carre spy novel, was part of her breakout across 2018-2019, while Garfield starred in the Hulu crime drama limited series Under the Banner of Heaven in 2022. Which one did critics like better? That goes to Pugh's The Little Drummer Girl, which has a 95% "Fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes, while Under the Banner of Heaven received an 87% "Fresh" score (Garfield did earn an Emmy nomination for this performance as well).
